Is the Avène range suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes the Avène range is specifically formulated for sensitive skin catering to all skin types that experience sensitivity such as Dry/Dehydrated Skin, Normal/Combination Skin, Oily/Blemish Prone Skin, Atopic skin, Reddened Skin, Ageing Skin, Men's Skin & Dry Irritated Skins.
Why is the range suitable for sensitive skin?
Avène is suitable for sensitive skin due to the high content of Avène Thermale Spring Water in each product which is known for its non-irritating and soothing properties.
I have tried everything, even products that claim to be for sensitive skin, I react to all of them. What would you recommend in the Avène range?
If you react to every product that you put on your skin then we would say that your skin is intolerant and we would therefore recommend that you keep your skin care regime simple, don't mix brands as they can react with each other. For people with an intolerant skin we would recommend a simple skin care regime of Extremely Gentle Cleanser, Avène Thermal Spring Water and Skin Recovery Cream. These products contain minimal ingredients and are fragrance, paraben and alcohol free.
Can people with a Normal Skin use the Avène range?
Yes of course, you do not need to have sensitive skin to use the Avène products. The advantage of using the Avène range is that the products are free of ingredients that can commonly cause irritation.
Do your products contain parabens?
Specifically for the face, Extremely Gentle Cleanser & Skin Recovery Cream do not contain parabens. The men's products, Hydrance, Pediatril, Cleanance, Micellaire, Gentle Toner, Soothing Mask, Soothing Eye Cream, and Trixera are all paraben free
Are Avène products tested on animals?
All tests are conducted on volunteers so that we can ensure that everything about the product is pleasurable from the packaging to the texture of the product.
Do you have products for Oily/Pimply skins and are they drying on the skin?
Yes we do have a range for sensitive oily skins prone to pimples. This range is not drying on the skin as the cleanser is soapless and pH adjusted. The range is called Cleanance.
Can I use the Cleanance range if I am taking prescription acne drugs such as Isotretinoin?
No. Isotretinion can severly dry out the skin and as such you should not use the Cleanance range. We suggest that you try Extremely Gentle Cleanser and Skin Recovery Cream which is for very intolerant and reactive skin.
At what age would you recommend an anti-ageing product?
We normally recommend that you start using an anti-ageing product from thirty years and on. Some people do start earlier than this.
Can you take the Avène Thermal Spring Water Aerosols into the cabin on an aircraft?
Yes you can take the 50ml can into the cabin as long as they have the lid on.
What is the difference between the two anti-ageing products Ysthèal + Emulsion and Eluage Cream?
Both products contain Retinaldehyde (an active form of Vitamin A) however Ysthèal + Emulsion also has Pre-tocopheryl (Vitamin E) whereas Eluage Cream has Hyaluronic Acid fragments. Ysthèal + Emulsion is more suitable for a normal to combination skin and Eluage Cream more suitable for a dry/dehydrated skin or mature skin.
Which product should I use if my skin is prone to flushing/redness and/or Rosacea?
Our recommendation would be to cleanse with Extremely Gentle Cleanser, spray/tone with Avène Thermal Spring Water and then moisturise the entire face. If you are prone to Rosacea you would introduce Dirosèal Cream at night to the areas that are prone to redness (usually the cheeks and nose). You would apply this to the effected areas after your moisturiser has absorbed (approx 15mins). Diroseal contains Retinaldehyde which assists with microcirculation.
