Moisturising, hydrating or nourishing the skin: what are the differences?
Moisturising creams provide the skin with water. This hydration allows the epidermis to remain supple and the complexion to remain radiant. Skin becomes dehydrated when there’s not enough water in the skin, due to an impaired skin barrier and a deficient hydrolipidic film. This deficiency is more likely to occur as a result of temperature changes or pollution, among other things. It causes discomfort, tightness and even redness.
Nourishing creams provide the lipids necessary for the structure and for protecting the skin barrier against external aggressors. They are particularly recommended for supporting dry skin and very dry skin that does not secrete enough sebum to form the protective film of the epidermis. This skin type is, therefore, more vulnerable to wind, pollution, cold, etc. It generally suffers from chronic tightness and discomfort.
Nourishing creams are therefore used to provide the skin with any missing nutrients. The skin once again becomes soft, supple, protected and comfortable.
How do you nourish the skin on your face?
You can provide the necessary nourishment for your face with nourishing creams and a balanced diet.
Preferably, eat foods rich in "good" fats (oily fish, almonds, nuts, eggs) and containing omega 3 in particular. Fruit and vegetables are also welcome for their beneficial vitamin content.
Also, adopt a skincare routine with three steps: cleansing, exfoliation and application of a nourishing cream. If you have dry and sensitive skin, opt for gel lotion texture cleansers, such as our Tolerance Extremely Gentle Cleanser. If you experience itching (due to skin dryness), the Xeracalm A.D. Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil will relieve you thanks to its formulation of key ingredients.
Nourishing face creams should be applied at least once a day. In the morning it will protect the skin from external aggressors and provide comfort throughout the day.
