There's no point going all out with your after-sun routine if you've forgotten the most important thing during exposure: protection, our motto. It cannot be said enough: exposure to the sun is never risk-free, which is why it’s essential to protect your skin with clothing and a sun cream with a high SPF. This is the only way to limit the risks of sun damage and skin ageing: sunburn, sunspots and even skin cancer.
Salt and chlorine tend to dehydrate the skin, so it's important to rinse off after leaving the beach or pool to get rid of the residue of chlorine, sand, salt and sun cream filters on the skin. Hydration begins in the shower: in order to deeply rehydrate and nourish the skin, preferably wash with a pH neutral superfatted soap rather than a stripping soap. Don't forget to rinse your hair thoroughly to avoid skin rashes and dry hair and scalp.
Don't forget to take a drink to stay refreshed and hydrated after sun exposure. Choose water, cold soups and gazpacho over sugary drinks and sodas, which are less likely to quench your thirst. It is recommended to drink an average of 1.5 litres of water per day.
The role that food plays in repairing the skin after the summer shouldn’t be underestimated, either. By choosing a balanced diet rich in fruit and vegetables, we provide the body with the anti-oxidants that the skin needs to regenerate itself.
